Dennis V. Smith, age 63 of Midland, died Monday February 15, 2016 at his residence. The son of the late Morgan and Doris (Ward) Smith was born in Midland on January 1, 1953. He was part of the first graduating class of Dow High School in 1971. Dennis was employed with Giant Supermarkets for 25 years. After Giant closed he went to work for Laborers Local 1098, retiring after 22 years of service. He was presently working part time doing maintenance for Circle Properties. Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking but most of all spending time at his cabin up north. He was a very handy person. Whatever Donna thought of, Dennis would create it and make it happen. On August 8, 1992 in their home, he married Donna Meister. Dennis was a friend to everyone and was there to help anyone in need of help. He will be deeply missed as no one could ever take his place.
Surviving is his wife of 23 years Donna; daughters, Jessica Lee Smith and Elizabeth Jane Meister; grandchildren, Meya & Carson Luft; brother, David (Marty) Smith; many aunts, uncles and close friends.
A Celebration of Dennis's life will take place 4:00 p.m. Sunday February 21, 2016 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home 4210 N. Saginaw Rd, Midland, with Pastor Mel Hunt officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to the family's wishes.
