Dennis W. Baldwin, age 68 of AuGres, formerly of Midland, died Thursday morning April 21, 2011 at Brian's House Hospice Care Facility in Bay City. The son of the late William J. and Ina (Anderson) Baldwin was born in Midland on June 22, 1942. He graduated from Midland High School in 1961 where he played football for The Chemics. Driven by athletic talents and an aspiration for higher education, Dennis went on to attend Ferris State College, playing football for the Ferris State Bulldogs. He then started his career with The Dow Chemical Co., leaving to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Midland after the war, Dennis resumed his job at Dow until retiring after many years of employment. He then moved to Au Gres where he resided until his death. Dennis loved sports, boating, fishing, deer hunting with both bow and rifle, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his time outside enjoying the lake and sunshine. He was known for his great sense of humor and often played practical jokes and numerous pranks on friends and family. Dennis had many life long friends with whom he kept in touch throughout the years, and was especially close to his nephews Jeff Brown and Jan Altman. He was a generous man and everyone loved to be around him. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his 2 children, Mary (Danny) Baldwin Sanchez of Chicago, Illinois, Bill (Jennifer) Baldwin of Elgin, Illinois; grandchildren, Olivia, Ava and Ruby Sanchez, Jack and Amelia Baldwin; sisters, Dawn Brown of Jackson, Linda Coy of Bryon, Ohio, Diane (Herbert) Ripke of Houghton Lake; many nieces, nephews and close friends. In addition to his parents Dennis was preceded in death by sisters, Betty Altman and Bonnie Crause.
Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 30, 2011 at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Funeral Honors will be provided by the United States Army Funeral Honors and the Midland Area Veterans. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to Brian's House Hospice Care. Personal messages of condolence may be offered to the family at www.wilson-miller.com.
