David Leroy Thousand

David L. Thousand, age 68 of Midland died Monday, January 11, 2016 at his residence.
The son of the late Keith and Edna (Bentley) Thousand was born on March 23, 1947 in Detroit and was raised and educated in Hazel Park, graduating from Hazel Park High School in 1965. David married the former Diane Malinowski, who pre-deceased him during child birth in 1966. He married Kim Hamilton on July 20, 1979 in Royal Oak and later moved to the Midland area. David had worked at Sanford Wood Products prior to his position as a maintenance person at Heritage Arms Apartments, retiring in in 2004. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sanford. David enjoyed his grandchildren, wood crafting, gardening, nature and was an amateur artist, working in oil paintings.
He is survived by his wife Kim; sons Alan (Cara) Thousand of Barryton, Mark Thousand of Hazel Park; daughter Melissa (William) Grundy of Hazel Park; grandchildren Dylan, Gabrielle, Zander, Jeffrey, Matthew, Stacy, Cassandra; two great grandchildren; brothers Greg (Ingham) Thousand; and sister Sandra (Armir) Al'Naime.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Brian Thousand; sisters Sheila Angel and Rilla Thousand.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, January 15, 2016 from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Sanford with Father Dan Fox, OFM Cap as celebrant. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Memorials may be offered to the family.
