David C. Stellmacher, Sr.

David C. Stellmacher Sr., age 78 of Sanford died at the MidMichigan Medical Center on Friday, May 27, 2011. The son of the late Karl and Lillian (Gray) Stellmacher was born on December 3, 1932 in Midland where he was raised and educated. On July 5, 1952 he married the former Matilda Green. David worked for the Dow Chemical Co. in the mail room for 38 years, retiring in 1990. David was a member of the Homer Twp. Fire Department for 25 years and enjoyed camping, traveling, bowling and especially his grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife, Matilda; son, David Stellmacher Jr. of Midland; daughters, Hazel (Perry) Goldschmidt of Colorado, Helen Reynolds of Midland; daughter-in-law Barbara Stellmacher; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Stellmacher; son-in-law Thomas Reynolds; daughter Cathleen Stellmacher; sisters, Claudia Downs and Teresa Stonerock.

Memorial funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Holy Scripture Lutheran Church with the Reverend Paul Schneider officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Meals on Wheels, Holy Scripture Lutheran Church or MidMichigan Home Care.
