David E. Sias

David E. Sias, age 71 of Edenville died at the King's Daughters Home following a long illness, on Monday September 9, 2013.
The son of the late Harold Winslow and Bessie (Davids) Sias was born on June 25, 1942 in Midland where he was raised and educated. Dave graduated from Central Michigan University with his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Mathematics. On December 21, 1968 he married the former Alice Harper in Midland at the First Baptist Church. He began his career as a math teacher at Jefferson Intermediate School and while teaching also served the Midland City Education Association as president and contract negotiator. In 1981 he started his second career as a retirement and investment advisor for VALIC. Dave was very community spirited. He volunteered actively throughout his life with many groups, including the Jaycees, MCEA, MEA, Kiwanis, Habitat for Humanity and the First Baptist Church.

David is survived by his wife, Alice Sias; his son John (Suzanne) Sias of Bartlett, Illinois; his daughter Catherine Sias of Edenville; and his brother Thomas (Cheri) Sias of Grand Blanc. He will also be missed by his grandchildren William Sias, Thomas Sias, Charles Sias and Edward Sias.
He was predeceased by brothers Mark Sias and Sam Sias.
Dave's family would particularly like to thank the staff of King's Daughters for their compassionate and attentive care.

Funeral services for David will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, September 13, 2013 from the Midland First Baptist Church with Dr. Joseph I. Mortensen officiating. Interment will be in Old Edenville Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until time of service.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to one of Dave's preferred charities, including the Chippewa Nature Center, Delta College or the Salvation Army of Midland.
