Danny L. Thoms, age 61 of Clare died Monday, December 7, 2015. The son of the late Earl and Edna (Van Allen) Thoms was born on June 16, 1954 in Kalamazoo. Dan was a talented mechanic from an early age and attained certifications in Auto, Marine, Quads and small engine repairs which was a lifelong passion. He currently was employed as a Marine Mechanic at MADS in Harrison and has worked at Lakeside Marina, Mecosta. Dan was a graduate of the Police Academy at Delta College and was employed by the Osceola County Sheriff's Department, the Gladwin County Sheriff's Department and also with the Coleman Police Department. He was also a certified diver for the Rescue and Recovery Dive Team and was a volunteer fire fighter in the Tustin/Cadillac area, an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed photography.
Dan is survived by four children, his brother Earl (Jerry) Thoms of Sand Lake, half-brother Jerry Sheldon, half-sisters Terri (Bill) Koker and Joann Richardson. He was predeceased by his sister Darlene. Dan will be missed by close friends Debbie Paxton, Larry Nielson and his family of friends at Black Lake.
A gathering time will take Saturday January 9, 2016 from 1 till 3:00 pm. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, where personal messages of condolence may be left at www.wilson-miller.com
