Daniel J. Pnacek, age 86 of Auburn, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Carriage House in Bay City. The son of the late Roman and Josephine (Mestoncik) Pnacek was born in Midland on July 4, 1935. He attended Midland High School, and served in the United States Army from 1956-1958, stationed in Germany. Dan was a forward Observer and Chief Fire Director. He traveled to Rome, and Florence, Italy where he captured many photo memories. Dan had been employed with Dow Corning for 10 years and then owned a lumber and furniture company for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing for blue gill in the summer, and bow and rifle hunting in the fall, enjoyed watching football, baseball and played softball on the Army team and Midland Leagues.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years of marriage, the former Clarice M. Marcinkowksi of whom he married on April 23, 1960 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church; children, Marcie Pnacek, Melisa Garrett, Mark Pnacek. Dan's siblings, Helen Fitak, Andrew Pnacek, Irene Stec, Genevieve Wishowski, and Mary Netterfield; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by brothers, Steve, Emil, Leo and James Pnacek; sisters, Sue Beck and Rose Fitak.
Funeral services for Dan will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Rev. Michael T. Sawicki officiating. Military Funeral Honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Midland Area Veterans. Interment will be at New Calvary Mausoleum. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to the wishes of the family.
