Dale A. Green

Dale Green, age 85 of Sanford, passed away to his Heavenly home on May 22, 2018. He will always be remembered by family and friends for his positive attitude, his playful sense of humor, and his desire to reach out to others. The 40 years prior to his retirement in 1997 his life was in loving service to the developmentally disabled adults and in Christian ministry of both the Au Sable Valley Community Mental health, and the American Baptist Churches.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carrolyn, (Hines) whom he married in 1959 in Warren, MI.; Daughter Janet (Tom) Wessels of Suttons Bay, MI, sons Greg (Amy) Green of East Tawas, MI and Jeff Green of Sanford, MI , and 8 dear grandchildren; his sister Gloria (Robert) Wurdock of Dearborn, MI , niece Robin (Kevin) Wilson of Trenton, MI.

Dale was born August 17, 1932 and grew up in Ferndale, Michigan. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1955 with Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences. Dale served two years in the U.S. Army from 1955-57. In 1957, He felt the "call" to become a Christian minister and attended Colgate Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, New York where he earned his Master of Divinity degree, June, 1960. After earning his Master of Divinity degree he served as pastor for 3 American Baptist Church congregations, Associate pastor First Baptist Church Anderson, Indiana (1960-63), First Baptist Church, Palmyra, New York (1963-69), and Gaines Carlton Community Church, Albion, New York (1969-73). From 1975 until his retirement in 1997, Dale worked for Au Sable Valley Community Mental Health Services. His work was with developmentally disabled adults as Supervising Case manager.

A private family graveside service & interment has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at First Baptist Church, Midland MI, on Saturday June 9 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive guests at the church on Saturday from 10:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those wishing to contribute in DALE'S MEMORY may wish to consider the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church, Midland, MI. or Sanford United Methodist Church, Sanford, MI.
