Dale M. Fales, age 89 of Midland, died Wednesday morning November 19, 2014 at his residence. The son of the late Ira J. and Sadie E. (McQuaid) Fales was born in Onaway MI on Jan. 30, 1925. In 1930 the family moved to Midland living on Poseyville road where they founded and operated the City Limits Dairy. Dale attended the Bullock Creek and Midland High schools graduating in 1943 after which he immediately left for military service in the Air Force. He returned from service in 1945 and began work with the Dow Chemical Company. In 1968 his Dow Chemical Co. job of Project Coordinator led him to Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Alaska and Saudi Arabia where he supervised the construction of various types of manufacturing facilities usually staying in each location about two years. After his retirement in 1986 he continued working on several overseas projects as an independent contractor. Dale was a member of First United Methodist Church, enjoyed tinkering with many things and playing golf.
Dale is survived by his wife of 68 years the former Genevieve M. Myers of whom he married in January of 1946; sons, Michael M. (Karen) Fales, David D. (Linda) Fales all of Midland; daughter, Melody M. (Dave) Arndt of Grand Haven; 5 grandchildren, Scott, Christopher, Jennifer, Brian and Sarah; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Sharon) Fales; sisters, Lila Booth, Bonnie Schreiber, Patricia (Lawrence) Bartos; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Dale was preceded in death by his siblings, Lillian Powers, Gladys Doughty, Mable Melchi, Ira Fales, Evelyn Draves, Linden Fales, Harley Fales, and Ronald Fales.
Funeral and committal services will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 22, 2014 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N. Saginaw Rd., Midland. Rev. Dr. Charles Keyworth will officiate. Interment will be in Midland City Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Midland Area Veterans. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to Midland King's Daughters Home.
