Coral Arvilla Gooch, age 98 passed away Wednesday January 7, 2026, at the Kings Daughter Home with family at her side. She was born June 13th, 1927, in Gladwin Michigan to the late Enson and Sylvia Grice. She married Ralph M. Gooch on June 6th, 1949, in Beaverton MI. They had just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary when Ralph passed in June of 2002. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church until later years. Over the years, she was involved with boy scouts, girl scouts, home extension group and the Triskelion Consignment shop. She and Ralph square danced with the Grand Squares and the Valley Silver Squares for many years. Coral loved to make quilts, which she made for her children and grandchildren. The family did a lot of camping while the kids grew up. During blackberry season, she would take canning equipment and can in the trailer. She loved to read both fiction and non-fiction. Coral was an avid gardener till she moved out of her house on Chippewa Lane in November of 2017. She resided at the Riverside Apartments in downtown Midland till she moved to the King’s Daughters Home in April of 2021.
Surviving are her sons, Alan (Elizabeth) Gooch of Midland, Paul (Diana) Gooch, of Midland, Hal Gooch of Salt Lake City; daughters Sue (Rick) Harrington of Hawaii and Linda (John) Nebel of North Branch MI; grandchildren Cara (Fergal) Diver of London England, Chris (Jade) Gooch of Burlington Vermont, Stephanie (Aaron) Hayes of Hope MI, Steven Gooch of Midland, Lauren Nebel of North Branch, Kristen Gooch of Guatemala City, Guatemala, Alex Gooch of Midland; great grandchildren Thomas and Gabriel Diver(England) and Jack and River Gooch (Vermont).
Celebration of life service will be held Friday April 10th, 2026, at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N Saginaw Rd in Midland at 11 am. Visitation from 10-11am. Len Clevenger will officiate. Burial will be Friday January 30th for immediate family at the Midland City Cemetery on Orchard Dr in Midland.
Memorial gifts may be given to First United Methodist Church or Salvation Army.
