Connie Jean Moe, age 83 of Sanford, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026 at Meridian Acres with her family present. The daughter of Clarence and Ada (Penny) Varner, she was born March 23, 1943. She grew up on the family farm in Sanford and graduated from Midland High.
Connie married Larry Moe on March 31, 1962 in Sanford United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member. They were married for 58 years until Larry’s passing in 2020. She retired from Meridian Public Schools where she worked in food service.
Connie and Larry had 4 sons, Duane (Jane) Moe of Sanford, Denis (Laura) Moe of Coleman, Tom (Jennifer) Moe, Chris (Michell) Moe all of Midland; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. She is survived by her sisters; Janet (Calvin) Cassaday of Mesa AZ, Sally (David) Schneider of St. Petersburg FL, brother Jerry (Vicky) Varner of Breckenridge MI, brother-in-law, Curtis (Beth) Moe of Sanford; sister-in-law, Sherry Moe of Lake City, and her faithful Cocker Spaniel, Curly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Earl Varner, brother-in-law Gary Moe and daughter-in-law Colleen Moe.
When Connie was not found working in her garden or the flower beds at Sanford Methodist Church, she could be found at many of her son's and grandchildren's events. She and Larry were avid supporters of the Sanford Meridian High School Wrestling Team from its inception. She also enjoyed playing softball and volleyball into her 60’s.
Connie and Larry loved traveling and visited all 50 states. They especially enjoyed camping and fishing together which they did often in Michigan, Canada and Alaska. She frequently out fished Larry while eating her popcorn and snacks.
A funeral service to honor Connie’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 12:00pm at Wilson Miller Funeral Home. Pastor Reed Swanson will officiate with burial to follow at Midland Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited for visitation on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home and again on Tuesday at 11:00am prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Sanford United Methodist Church or the Special Olympics, Area 30, Midland.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care that Connie received from all the wonderful staff at Meridian Acres during her stay there.
