Clarence H. Augustine

Clarence H. Augustine, age 95 of Rhodes died at his daughter's residence on Wednesday, January 14, 2009.
The son of the late George and Cecelia (Tenewalde) Augustine was born on October 6, 1913 in Gladwin where he was raised and educated. Clarence married the former Margaret Wavra in Gladwin on February 14, 1936 and she predeceased him in 1979. Clarence later married Doris Raymond in 1980 and she predeceased him in 2001. He had a life long career with the Dow Chemical Co, as an operator, retiring in 1976 after 37 years of service. Clarence also served as a trustee of Mills Township for sixteen years. He enjoyed working in the woods, gardening and flea markets. His wonderful smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was always ready to help anyone and tell his entertaining to stories to anyone who would listen.

Clarence is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Sandy) Augustine of Beaverton, David Augustine of Rhodes; daughters, Sharon Szymarek of Manistee, Marilyn (Jim) Greene of Midland, Kathy (Kenneth) Burlingame of Rhodes, Deb (Jim) LaFramboise of Midland, Mary Augustine of Rhodes; 35 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; brother, Ervin Augustine of West Branch and a sister, Esther Joseph of Gloversville, NY; brother-in-law Fred & Karen Raymond of Chesterfield, MI.
Clarence is also survived by his step children, Roxanne & Jerry Brown of China, MI, Irene & Wallace Bird of Algonac, Doris Meredith of Port Huron, Les & Kristine Parker of Algonac.
He was predeceased by sons, William and Lester; daughters, Barbara and Dorothy Acton; brothers, Raymond, Wendell, Louis; sisters, Betty, Helen, Pauline and Lila; step son, Len Parker.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 17, 2009 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. The Reverend Reed Schroer, Pastor of the People of Hope Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 . Memorials may be offered to the Mid Michigan Home Care, Gladwin or Midland County Senior Services.
