Clarabel Lewis

Clarabel Lewis, 93, of Midland, died at MidMichigan Medical Center, Midland on Monday, January 28, 2014. She was a loving, generous and happy wife and mother who always had a big smile and a great sense of humor. The daughter of the late William J. and Jenny (Joslin) Horning was born on April 16, 1920. On January 27, 1941, she married Emry "Buster" Lewis, in Midland. Buster died on February 7, 2009. Clarabel was a homemaker and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Retirement took them to their cabin in Houghton Lake for many years until 2007, when they returned to Midland to be closer to family. Clarabel spent those last years at Tendercare in Midland, where the staff treated her with great kindness and love.

Clarabel is survived by her son, Gary (Kay Lynn) Lewis, of Midland; her grandchildren, Craig (Beth) Lewis of South Haven, Mary (Terry) Shudark of Midland and Steve (Tracy) Rider of Shelby Township and Vicky Rider, of Midland; great grandchildren, Michelle and Kyle Lewis, Allison and Madison Shudark and Adam and Megan Rider; her brother, William Horning of Midland; sisters, Viola Heminenz of Saginaw, Florence Taylor of Florida; and her son-in-law, Ed (Marilyn) Rider, brother-in-law, Bob Moe. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sharon Rider; granddaughter, Shelly Rider-Brandle; and two sisters, Bessie Gibbs and Midred Moe.

Funeral and committal services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2014, from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home 4210 N. Saginaw Rd Midland. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to the Bullock Creek Scholarship Fund or the donor's favorite charity. Personal messages of support may be left for the family at www.wilson-miller.com.
