Cecil E. Funk, age 78 of Midland, died Sunday April 13, 2009 at MidMichigan Medical Center surrounded by his family. The son of the late Rollo and Beatrice (Minier) Funk was born in Midland on October 18, 1930 where he was raised and educated. Cecil owned and operated the Tri City Dry Cleaners in the early 1950s and into the 1960s. Managed the Midland One Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners and American Cleaners for a number of years. Just before his retirement, Cecil managed Roth Cleaners in Midland and Bay City. He was a lifelong member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church. Cecil enjoyed fishing, traveling and working on wood projects. He was always helpful with family members with construction projects.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years Irene (Kaczynski) Funk; his children, John (Diane) Funk of Midland, James (Joan) Funk of Ohio, Mary (Jeff) Novak of Oregon, Susan (Gary) Kuchenbecker of Ohio, Paula (Scott) Dachsteiner of Midland; grandchildren, Brian, Thomas and Eric Funk, Heather and Brittany Funk, Kevin, Thomas and Nikki Novak, Kristen and Kimberly Kuchenbecker, Crystal, Scott, Sara and Robert Dachsteiner; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Donald (Lois) Funk of Texas; brother in law, Floyd (Taffy) Kaczynski of Bay City.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 15, 2009 at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church. Fr. Jose Cabrera and Deacon Aloysius J. Oliver will officiate. Family and Friends may visit at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to St. Brigid Church. Personal messages of support may be left for the family at www.wilson-miller.com
