Carolyn Jane Mallery, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 26, 2024 at 82 years of age. She was born in Midland on March 9, 1942 to John & Pauline Peterson. Carolyn was raised by her mother, Pauline and stepfather, George Sarle. She graduated in 1961 from Midland High School.  After graduation, she worked as a bank teller for both Midland National Bank in Midland, MI and Michigan National Bank in Flint, MI before starting her career with Bullock Creek Schools. At Bullock Creek, she spent 30 plus years as a bus driver, lunch aide, and volunteer bringing a smile to everyone.

Carolyn will be most remembered as a sweet and caring person who loved to help others. She enjoyed crocheting of which most of her works were donated to schools and children in the Bullock Creek community. Carolyn was a member of Poseyville United Methodist Church for many years before transitioning to Aldersgate Church. She was very active in both churches and loved helping in any way she could. When not spending time with her family or church, Carolyn could be found gardening, enjoying nature, and soaking up the sunshine.

On August 24, 1963 Carolyn Jane Sarle married George William Mallery at First United Methodist Church in Midland, MI.  Left to cherish her memory is her husband, George Mallery, of almost 61 years and their children, Jill (Wayne) Pretzer and Bill (Jolene) Mallery. Carolyn was a grandmother to Jaylyn Mallery, Michael Pretzer, Sarah Pretzer, Shyanne Mallery, and Grant Mallery. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and going to their sporting events. Also surviving is her brother, John Peterson; and sisters in law, Judyth Peterson, Patti Peterson, and JoEllen Schwartz. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Pam (Jack) Raines, Chris Peterson, Jim Peterson, and Joe Schwartz.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 4 – 7 pm at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church from 10 am until the time of service. Services to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Aldersgate Church, 2206 Airfield Ln. Midland, MI 48642 with Pastor Michael Sawicki officiating. Burial of Carolyn's cremated remains will be held on Saturday at 2 pm at Poseyville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to Aldersgate Church.
