Carlla Marie Mowery

June 9, 1943 — November 4, 2025

Midland

Carlla Marie Mowery, age 82 of Midland, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at StoryPoint. The daughter of the late George and Frances Marie (Deline) Marshall was born on June 9, 1943 in Midland where she was raised and graduated from Midland High School.

Married to her husband, the late William Mowery, for over 58 years until his passing in 2022. She met her husband, Bill, at the Midland Roll Arena and it was love at first sight. Family was everything to Bill and Carlla. Together they had two children, and their lives were filled with family time, camping, bonfires, water skiing, and fishing at their cabin on Wixom Lake. As a family, they took many trips that were filled with so much love and laughter. Bill and Carlla also shared a home on Sanford Lake for 30 years and called every day a vacation on the lake.

Carlla was an organist at her local church and played for many weddings. On her down time, she enjoyed watching sports of all kinds with her son, especially her Pittsburgh Steelers, Golden State Warriors and Michigan State basketball. She loved playing Mah Jongg and Rummikub every Tuesday and Saturday with her daughter with many outings to get ice cream. Carlla loved singing, clogging, square dancing, and having fun. She performed at nursing homes and various venues with her friend, the late Jim Lepeak. She also taught line dancing at Happy Diners, where she was a site manager for over 30 years. Carlla loved going to work and made a point of learning and calling each person by name to make every day special for them.

Carlla’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved to tell stories and reminisce about all the cute and funny things they did over the years. Carlla loved rescuing senior dogs to give them a safe, happy and loving home. They were her babies, and she loved spoiling them.

Surviving are her children, Jeff Mowery and Shelley Mowery; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Vala) Haskins, Alex Haskins, Krista (Ian) Parks; great grandchildren, Landen and Levi Haskins, Viola and Henry Parks; sister and brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Carlla will be remembered for her vast compassion for others, her friendly and caring demeanor, her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, always putting family first and fostering a warm, welcoming environment for all who knew her. Per Carlla’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Midland County Pit Stop, S.A.F.E. of Clare County, or the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral home.
