Burton (Burt) Eldon Sweebe Jr., Age 80 of Midland, passed away Wednesday, July, 27th 2016 at his residence. The son of the late Burton and Evelyn (Sasse) Sweebe Sr. was born on July 21st, 1936 in Midland, Michigan. On August 24th, 1957, Burt married the former Marilyn Leach in Saginaw, Michigan. He was employed with the Dow Chemical Company as a journeyman Mechanic, retiring in 1990 after 35 and ½ years of service. Burt was a member of the American Custom Gun Makers Guild, and the First United Methodist Church of Midland. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, camping, fishing, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Burt is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn Sweebe; son, David (Shari) Sweebe of Midland; daughters, Laurie (Steve) Lovely of Midland, and Linda (David) Barrabee of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren, Jason (Lori), Shari (Adam), Michael, Sarah, Jeremy (Kate) Benjamin, Jordan, Amanda, and Jeff; great - grandchildren, Dalton, Cassidy, Connor, and Olivia; brother, Robert (Phyllis) Sweebe of Decater, AL; sisters, Wanda (Pat) Hogan of Auburn, and Loretta Casey (Bob) Antle of Florida; brother in-law, Robert (Andie) Leach of Florida; sister in-law, Avis Leach and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Burt was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Fox and brother in-law Garner Leach.
The funeral service for Mr. Sweebe will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1st, 2016 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Charles Keyworth of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Midland City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 31st, 2016 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
