Bessie I. (Perry) Washburn

Bessie I. (Perry) Washburn, age 79 of Midland, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at MidMichigan Medical Center.

The daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Chambers) Perry was born March 7, 1931 in Kalkaska and was raised and educated in Midland.
Bessie married Kenneth Washburn in Midland in October of 1948 and he predeceased her in 1969. She had worked as a cook at Brittany Manor (formerly Town and Country Nursing Home). She was an avid embroiderer and made hats for the needy.
Bessie attended the Free Methodist Church and the Midland Salvation Army.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Betty) Washburn of Midland; daughters, Ann (Dennis) Stonerock of Midland, Brenda (Scott) Firth of Kingman, Arizona and Vicki Johnson; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sisters, Wilberta "Bill" Beebe, Violete Acklin and Dorothy Smith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by daughters, Elizabeth and Phylis; and brothers, John Perry and Bob Lipe.

A memorial service for Mrs. Washburn will be held in the Gerstacker Room of Washington Woods on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Don Duford officiating.
Memorials may be offered to the donor's favorite charity.
