Bessie M. (Parker) Johnson, age 90 of Midland, died Friday morning March 12, 2010 at Brittany Manor. The daughter of the late Milo and Mildred (Strayer) Morse was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 11, 1919. She had resided in Midland most of her life and also in the West Branch area. Bessie had been employed at Valley Drug store in Midland. She was an avid baseball fan especially a Loons Fan having held season tickets for the last 3 years and also a Detroit Tiger Fan. Bessie enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and in her earlier year's roller skating. She was a member of the Moose Club in West Branch. On October 3, 1936 Bessie married Al Parker. He died on July 19, 1982. She then married Ray Johnson on October 15, 1983. He died on October 27, 2001.
Surviving are her sons, Fred (Barb) Parker of Midland, Milton (Diana) Parker of Portsmouth, Virginia; daughters, Wanda (Bob) Atwater of Beaverton, Carol (Tomas) Glenn of Gladwin; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; brothers, George Morse of Spokane, Washington, Robert (Patricia) Morse of Cheboygan; many nieces and nephews. Bessie was preceded in death by brother, Owen Morse; sisters, Margie Sian, Virginia Britton, Lillian Prahin, Arlene Haskell.
Funeral and committal services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 16, 2010 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
