Barbara E. Lowry

Barbara Ridley Lowry, 90, of Midland, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away quietly in her sleep on March 31, 2017, after a brief illness at her home in Bickford Place with family at her side.

She was born November 9, 1926 to the late Robert and Ruth (Casey) Ridley and lived her early life in Fargo, North Dakota. She married her sweetheart, Ron, there in 1946, and soon after, they moved to MSU war-time housing in East Lansing, Michigan. They resided in Boulder, Colorado for 16 years before moving back to Midland, later establishing their home on Sanford Lake.

Barbara enjoyed an active life, serving as an award winning Realtor, not only locally but also on the state and national level. Twice she was named Midland's "Realtor of the Year" and was also "Realtor of the Year" for the State of Michigan. She served on the boards for many Midland charitable organizations and was passionately involved in many community activities.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Ron, and children, Kate (Dave) Habetler, Bill (Cathy) Lowry, and Barb Lowry, all residents of Muskegon, Tom Lowry of Denver, Andy Lowry of Midland and Abby (Brian) Jundt of Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. She also leaves 8 beloved grandchildren and 8 amazing great-grandchildren. She was blessed with many loving relatives in North Dakota, Minnesota, Virginia, and Florida, and many dear friends in Midland, Sanford, and Boulder, Colorado. She will be missed by so many.

The family would like to express thanks and love to her friends at Bickford Place. The care she received and the love she felt there was evident to all.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, April 7, 2017 from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Kevin Maksym as celebrant. The Rite of Committal will be in New Calvary Cemetery. Family will meet with friends at the church on Friday from 9:00 until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Lowry's name may be offered to Toni & Trish House, 4699 l l-Mile Rd, Auburn, MI 48611 or to St. Jude's Children's Fund.
