Ann Thurlow Smith

April 3, 1940 — March 20, 2024

Adrian

Ann Thurlow Smith was called home by her Lord and Savior to join her late husband Glen Orla Smith, on March 20, 2024.

Ann was born on April 3, 1940 to the late Willis and Della (Thurlow) Walburn in North Porter Township. She attended Puffer Country School in the Porter Oil Fields. She graduated from St. Louis High School in 1959.Ann and Glen were married June 7, 1958 in Breckenridge at the Methodist Church. They lived in Lee Township for almost 50 years.

Ann was fiercely loyal and steadfast in her love and care for her family and friends. She was a lover of the outdoors - of flower gardens and homegrown vegetables, birdwatching and camping, of stargazing in her backyard and listening to the frogs on her pond. She was a highly competitive card player and was known to sneak a peek at your hand if you didn't keep your cards close. Late in life, she became an avid cat mom to three adopted strays: First to Jessie, and then later to Jesse and Georgia. They brought her much joy and happiness. Ann valiantly fought the effects of Dementia for years, but this never surprised her family, given that she'd previously survived breast cancer, as well as a heart attack. Ann lived her life on her terms.

Ann is survived by her two children, April Jane (Kurt) Lehman of Adrian, MI, and Darwin Glen (Brenda) Smith of Hickory, NC. Three precious grandsons: Jacob Scott Cooper of Brooklyn NY; Gabriel P.O. Cooper of Brooklyn, NY; and Brandon M. (Samantha) Lehman of Munith, MI. One precious great-grandson: Hunter Tyler Lehman of Munith, MI. Ann is also survived by her brother: Rev. Larry Walburn of Potosi, MO. Plus many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, sisters Kay and Sue, and grandson Wade.

In remembrance of Ann's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Hospice of Lenawee.

Private burial has taken place and there will be no other services. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
