Andrew F. McLaughlin, age 88 of Midland, died Wednesday December 9, 2009 at MidMichigan Medical Center surround by his family following complication after knee surgery. The son of the late Michael F. and Percies (Ricker) McLaughlin was born in Homer Twp on November 26, 1921 where he was raised and educated. Andy served in the United States Coast Guard during W.W. II. He retired in 1977 from The Dow Chemical Co. as a Multicrafts Foreman after 37 ½ years of service. Andrew was a member of the Gleaners, American Legion Berryhill Post 165, a life member of the National Rifle Association and served on the Lee Township Board of Appeals. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying deer hunting. Andy also continued on the family farm for many years. He enjoyed traveling. Andy was also able to go to Washington DC with the Dow Honors Flight. On June 28, 1946 in Alma, Andy married the former Etta Cary. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and spending time with his family was very special to him.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years Etta; son, Thomas A. McLaughlin and friend Barb Manier of Midland; daughter, Annette (Edward) Reihl of Lake, Michigan; grandchildren, Andrew J. McLaughlin and his friend Angie Hyer and Chad McLaughlin and his friend Jessica Kubczak, Joel and Cory Reihl; great granddaughters, Ava Mae and Kylee McLaughlin. Andrew was preceded in death by an infant son, James McLaughlin.

Funeral and committal services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 12, 2009 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Pastor Lyn Frazier of Gordonville United Methodist Church will officiate. Military honors will be by The U.S. Coast Guard and Midland Area Veterans. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
