Alverta Harriett (Foster) Dodge

Alverta H. (Smith) Foster Dodge, age 97 of Midland died Tuesday April 26, 2011 at Stratford Village. The daughter of the late Andrew and Cora (Klink) Smith was born on April 3, 1914 in Midland. She married Stewart Foster on January 20, 1932 and he predeceased her on June 8, 1970. She then married John Dodge on September 25, 1976 and he predeceased her on July 26, 1986. Alverta was a long time and active member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the First United Methodist Women, leader of the Jean Elder Circle, volunteered for staff at the church, former member of the Lifetime Club, Seasoned Adults and Church Women United. She enjoyed baking, gardening, flowers and living on the farm.

Alverta was blessed by her loving family and is survived by daughters, Jane Moulton of Midland, Joyce (Richard) Colbry of Mesa AZ, Harriett (Jack) Smaltz of Midland, Sharon (David) Mc Donald of Lake; step daughters, Sande (Terry) Bigelow of Merrill, Joan McMahon; step son, Perry (Mary) Dodge of Montana; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sister, Vera (Louis) Twining; brother, Edward S. Smith; sisters-in-law, Helen M. Smith and Kathleen Smith.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sisters, Bertha Smith, Leona Haley; brothers, Clare Smith, Ray Smith, Lloyd Smith, Willard Smith; sons-in-law, Charles Netzley, Ernest Moulton; granddaughter, Karen Netzley; and sister-in-law, Virginia Smith.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dodge will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, April 29, 2011 from First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Charles Keyworth officiating. Private burial will be in Midland Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-8 pm and at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
Memorials may be offered to First United Methodist Church or Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund.
