Alma May Hoon

Alma May Hoon, age 92 of Midland, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Coleman Fields Assisted Living surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Ralph and Martha (Church) Stevens was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on May 9, 1931. She was a long-time member of Midland Missionary Church. Alma enjoyed working in her garden, growing flowers, decorating cakes, cooking and baking, fishing and hunting. But most of all she enjoyed loving on her grandkids. On January 30, 1953, Alma married Earl W. Hoon, and after 70 years of marriage he died on May 18, 2023.

Surviving is her son, Alan (Sue) Hoon; daughter, Cindy Hoon Droomer; grandchildren, Angela Droomer (Adam Hoffman), Justin Droomer; great grandchildren, Tyler Crawford, Zoe Bartlett and a little special one, Lilly Vesterfelt; brothers, Ray (Norma) Stevens, Dale Stevens; sister, Gayla (Roger) Haataja; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alma was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Wirtz, Hilda Rippee and Irene Martin.

Funeral services for Alma will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday March 22, 2024 at Midland Missionary Church with Pastor David Kissinger and Pastor Otto Johnsen officiating. Family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial contributions be directed to The Care Team Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
