Alice M. Sias, age 76 of Edenville, passed away Wednesday, February 08, 2017 at her home.
The daughter of the late Charles Stanley and Dorothy (McGinn) Harper was born December 16, 1940 in Bay City and was raised in Edenville. Alice received her BA from Alma College, MLS from the University of Michigan and Master's Degree from Central Michigan University. She was a librarian for Midland Public Schools having worked at Jefferson Intermediate, Central Intermediate, Chippewassee Elementary and Windover. After 35 years of service she retired in 1998.
Alice enjoyed local history and researching genealogy. She was a member of the John Alden Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution, the Daughters of the Union and the Midland County Historical Society.
On September 9, 2013, after nearly 45 years of marriage, Alice was predeceased by her husband, David E. Sias whom she married on December 21, 1968.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine (Jose Rueda) Sias of Edenville; son John (Suzanne) Sias of Bartlett, ILL; grandchildren William, Thomas, Charles and Edward Sias all of Barlett, ILL; brother John (Susan) Harper of Mt. Pleasant; brother in law Thomas (Cheri) Sias of DeLand, FL; Nephews Thomas, Mark and Andrew; niece Andrea.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her sister Alma Harper.
The Family would like extend a sincere "Thank You" to Alice's Caregivers, Toyna, Angelina, Kathy, Jill, Pam, Jen, Allison, Jennifer, Nina, Mikala, Katie, Sarah and Angela and Hometown Hospice nurse Elizabeth for their exceptional care.
Funeral and Committal Services will conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 11, 2017 from the First Baptist Church in Midland. Burial will be in Old Edenville Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Memorials in Alice's name may for offered to Chippewa Nature Center, Little Forks Conservancy, CMU Public Radio or Midland Senior Services.
