Alice Jean Potts, age 88 of Midland, passed away Tuesday, May 20th, 2025, at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. She was born in Midland, Michigan on September 8th, 1936, to the late Joseph and Frances (Pashick) Novak. Jean served her country honorably with the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956. On May 19, 1956, she married Lawrence Potts at Blessed Sacrament Church, and they shared 67 years together before his death. She devoted her time as a homemaker, bringing up four children.
Together she and Larry raised their children, Kenneth (Laurie) Potts of Jenison, Michigan, Mary Jo (Mike) Witer of Beaverton, Michigan, John Potts of Bay City, Michigan, and Christopher (Jill) Potts of Lansing, Michigan. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Lindsay (William) Baskel, Theodore (Desyree) Potts, Heidi Upchurch (Steven Elmer), Nathaniel (Stephanie) Upchurch, Thomas Potts, Finn Potts, Jessica (Bryan) Partaka, Jason (Samantha) Witer, five great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Madelyn and Kaylee Baskel, Gloria Potts, and Abigail Witer. Jean was pre-deceased by her two brothers and their spouses, Edward and Karen Novak, Lawrence and Agnes Novak, and her brother-in-law Paul Card. She will be missed by her sister-in-law Dorothy Card.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23rd at the Wilson-Miller Funeral Home, 4210 N Saginaw Rd, Midland, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On Tuesday, June 24th, visitation will be at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3109 Swede Avenue in Midland, Michigan from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Liturgy, which will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Fr. Rob Howe will be celebrant, and a private burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center Palliative Care Department, 1500 Weiss Street in Saginaw, Michigan 48602-5251. Personal messages of condolence may be offered to the family at www.wilson-miller.com.
