Alice Philena Ehlers, age 96 of Sanford, our loving mother, grandma and great grandma passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at her home. The daughter of the late Guy and Libbie (Mead) Corner was born April 5, 1920 in Marion. When Alice was six weeks old the family moved to Midland and Alice graduated from Midland High School in 1938. In 1953 she married John Harris and divorced in 1961. On May 18, 1963 she married Elmer Ehlers at Grace Lutheran Church. After 38 years of marriage, Elmer predeceased his wife on December 25, 2001. Alice was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church on March 23, 1967.
She is survived by her sons, John Harris of Conroe, TX, Richard Harris of Sanford; daughter, Phyllis Ann Ehlers of Sanford; grandson, Kurt Jon (Nikki) Ehlers of Midland; great grandson, Zane Lee Ehlers; sister in law, Edith Ehlers of Bay City; cousins, Jeanette Dennis of Benzonia and Bill (Joann) Corner of Marion; niece Kay (Birb) Vincent of Freeland; nephew, Mike Corner of Saginaw. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers.
Funeral services for Alice will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Midland Memorial Gardens Chapel with visitation at 10:30. The family is requesting no flowers or plants. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family wishes.
