Alice "Niki" Beckwith

April 14, 1923 — November 9, 2012

Alice Mary "Niki" Beckwith, born 4-14-1923 to George and Ella Gebhardt of Omaha, NE, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the age of 89.
Niki graduated from St. Catherine's of Creighton University as a Registered Nurse and enlisted in the US Army Nurse Corps. She served as a 1st Lieutenant in WWII on the island of Saipan and at the 147th Army Hospital (Tripler General) in Honolulu, Hawaii. There she met her husband, Don Beckwith (deceased) of Midland, MI and married 9-14-1946 in Omaha, Ne.
Niki is survived by their children, Cindy (Ross Thompson), Thomas Patrick [deceased](Candice), Don (Karen)and Bob(Linda); 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and dear extended family, Bill & Bonnie Kenett, Max & Martha Bottomley, Pete & Gloria Lehman, Grace Merril, Marge Messler, Helen Ward, Caroline Gunkler and Janet Lang.
Niki volunteered at King's Daughters of Midland, prepared sandwiches for the homeless at St. Thomas Aquinas, sewed for Babies in Need, and was a member of the Michigan Quilters.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 12, 2012, at St. Brigids of Kildare Catholic Church in Midland. Funeral Liturgy to follow at 11:00 AM, Fr. Patrick O'Connor presiding. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army Funeral Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Toni & Trish Hospice House, P O Box 125, Auburn, MI, 48611; and The Michigan Quilters, c/o Judy Harris, 1508 Sayre Street, Midland, MI 48640. Funeral services are by the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
