Alfred A. Baibos, age 89 of Sanford, died Monday morning February 1, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center, Midland. The son of the late Peter and Rose (Prohaska) Baibos was born in Flint, Michigan on April 13, 1926. Al had been employed with The Dow Chemical Co as an operator until his retirement in 1986 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Sanford where he served as an usher for many years and the Sanford Jack's & Jill's Senior Center. He enjoyed fishing and hunting until the age of 87. He was very active in the Sanford Little League but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. On June 29, 1946 in Omer Al married the former Clara Jean McKenzie and after 61 years of marriage she died on May 11, 2008.
Surviving are his sons, Terry (Vicki) Baibos of Burton, Don (Jeanne) Baibos of Katy, Texas; daughters, Judy Cassaday of Hope, Lori (Charles) Wright of Bay City; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren of which he loved dearly; sister, Elizabeth (Robert) McCormick of Georgia; many nieces, nephews and his faithful companion cat Buddy. In addition to his parents and wife, Al was preceded in death by his sister, Eva Macko and son in law, Dennis Cassaday.
The Funeral Liturgy for Al will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 4, 2016 at Our Lady of Grace (St. Agnes) Catholic Church, Sanford with Fr. Dan Fox OFM, Cap officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home 4210 N. Saginaw Rd Midland on Wednesday from 2 till 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Christian Vigil Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to Our Lady of Grace Church or Sanford Jacks & Jills.
