Adeline M. (Shocknesse) Gillette, 70, of Sanford died Monday, November 30, 2009 at her home. The daughter of the late Clifford and Mary (Ridgeway) Shocknesse was born January 27, 1939 in Sanford where she was raised and educated. Adeline married Richard Gillette on August 25, 1956. She was most recently employed as a clerk/manager of The County Store in Coleman. She was a member of the Clare Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Sanford Eagles Auxiliary and Past President of the Clare Eagles Auxiliary. She was actively involved with the National Association of Physically Handicapped and the treasurer of the local Mid Michigan Chapter. Adeline was an avid collector of Angels.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard; sons, Kenneth Gillette of Sanford and Tony (Joy) Gillette of Sanford; daughters, Phyllis Daniels of Sanford, Vickie (Grant) Marcoux of Coleman and Cindy (Eugene) Spencer of Coleman; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; brothers, Ray and John Shocknesse; and sister, Marylou VanBuskirk. In addition to her parents, Adeline was predeceased by her son, Ricky; daughters, Joann, Ramona and Colleen; two grandsons; one great great grandson; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gillette will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
Pastor Russell Thomas of Clare Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Geneva Twp. North Bradley Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
