Ada Jane (Slee, Burlingame) Boman, 89, formerly of Midland, Michigan and De Leon Springs, Florida, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Michigan Masonic Home in Alma. She was born to the late David and Cora (Mobley) Slee on May 15, 1935, at their Edenville Township home. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Janie had a wonderful childhood, growing up in a large family, on their Edenville farm, which bordered the Tittabawassee River. She often shared cherished memories of Mom and Pop, her brothers and sisters, and her favorite dog Teddy. She was a jokester, even playing tricks on her grandmother at the river, where she would swim down and tug on her fishing line to make Grandma Rachel think she had a bite. She also loved going to the Friday night dance in Beaverton.
Janie began working at a young age, housekeeping for Dr. Swanton and helping Pop with his duties as the Sexton to the Old Edenville Cemetery. She also enjoyed working at Glover's Drug Store up until she graduated from Midland High School. Eventually, she became a licensed beautician, but her favorite role was that of a homemaker and grandmother. On June 15, 1968, she married Leon Boman, at their home in Midland, Michigan where they raised their 10 children. They retired to Florida, where they remained until his passing in 2019.
They often enjoyed a house full of kids and/or grandkids, whether it was in Michigan or Florida. They enjoyed flying in their plane, traveling, boating, working together on woodcrafts for gift-giving, playing and singing music, and visiting with family and friends.
Surviving are her children David (Luanne) Burlingame, Judy (Dennis) Soper, Polly (Jim Laforge) Boman, Theresa Burlingame, Lennie Boman, Raynee Bishop, Iva (Mike) Cummings, Mellisa (Gene Gnann) Boman, and Tommy (Cynthia) Boman; her grandchildren, Milissa Kurylowicz, Michelle Moore, Rebecca (Jess) Crowder, Cora Pate, Austin (Mona) Boman, John Burlingame, Jr., Josh Dooley, Sara Leiner, Tracy Fischetti, and Amy Soper; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her beloved dogs Stryker and Kota; cats Samson and Max; and many other cherished family and friends.
In addition to Mom and Pop, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leon, son John, daughter-in-law Tracy, grandson Timothy, and her siblings.
A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, September 5, 2024, with visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and service at 11:30 a.m. at Wilson MILLER Funeral Home, 4210 N Saginaw Rd, Midland, MI 48640 officiated by Pastor Dan Youmans.
